Call for Papers: International Conference on Artificial Intelligence & Intellectual Property Rights, February 28

The School of Law, GITAM (Deemed to be University), in collaboration with Aequitas Victoria Research Centre, Bihar is organizing International Conference (Online) on the topic "Artificial Intelligence & Intellectual Property Rights: Unveiling the Future" on 28th February, 2025.

About the Conference

Artificial Intelligence is infused into every possible sector in the world, which showcases that technology is the future and an inherent aspect of human survival. The creativity and innovation that comes along with the technological advancement like Artificial Intelligence is the new dynamics of intellectual property. The intricate relationship between Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) has gained prominence in the new digital age. The innovation and creativity put forth by the rapid progress in the field of Artificial Intelligence has necessitated to redefine and relook in to the Intellectual Property legal regime. Many substantial issues like ownership, liability, enforcement of rights, etc., in the fields of Patents, Copyrights, Trademarks, Trade Secrets and other allied intellectual property rights have taken central stage in the modern world. Two broad dimensions have developed in this field, firstly, Artificial Intelligence as Intellectual Property and Intellectual Property for Artificial Intelligence. There is need for discussion, deliberation on the harmonization of these two different contours in an Artificial Intelligence driven era. At global level and as well as at domestic level, there are multiple applications at IP Offices internationally for intellectual property specifically patent and copyrights are filed where Artificial Intelligence has been central to the invention or creation. Different jurisdictions globally have also denied legal recognition to Artificial Intelligence as it is not capable of protection. But these interpretations are at nascent stage as they are limited by the legal provisions. Nevertheless, the dynamics of society have always transformed the laws and their applicability so will the dynamics of technology impact the new age development of the law in future. Therefore, this International Conference seeks to secure various legal, academic views and possibilities in form of papers and paper presentations in light of these developments through legal discourse on the theme “Artificial Intelligence and IPR” between Academicians, Legal Professionals, Research Scholars, Students and any other persons interested on the theme.
